Going to Trollhättan on a day trip just to try the Fokker 50 before they disappear kind of whetted my appetite for day trips and small turbo props. When the Swedish government had found a new airline to run their "traffic duty" routes (which I've previously written about), there were special offers on a couple of routes. I found that it was possible to go to both Hemavan (HMV) and Sveg (EVG) for about €110 return. Not really cheap for domestic flights, but a lot cheaper than it usually is. Since the airlines get money from the government just to run these routes, regardless of the number of passengers, I'm guessing they don't have to care too much about their ticket prices and how many passengers they get...

The aircraft used on the ARN-HMV route was a Saab 340, whereas EVG was served with a Jetstream 32. Hemavan seemed to have nicer surroundings, whereas the JS32 looked a little cooler than the Saab. "It looks like we'll have to book them both," my dad and I said to each other as I called him to ask if he was interested, which he was. So, we booked an ARN-HMV trip for the 30th of July, and then an ARN-EVG trip for the 6th of August.

The itinerary for this trip:
2018-07-30: HP671, Saab 340 economy class, Stockholm to Hemavan
2018-07-30: HP672, Saab 340 economy class, Hemavan to Stockholm

The flight to Hemavan was not operated by Amapola, as the flight number would suggest, but outsourced to a Polish company, Sprint Air. This was a short lease, so both aircraft (including its livery) and crew came from Sprint Air. We knew this as we booked our tickets, and it meant that both aircraft and airline would be new to both of us. It was also going to be my first time flying out of Arlanda's tiny terminal 3, so let's head there to catch... a Swedish plane!
