Lounge review: British Airways Galleries Lounge, Heathrow

Lounge review: British Airways Galleries Lounge, Heathrow

I had almost four hours on the ground at Heathrow before heading back to Stockholm, and during those hours my intention was to visit the Galleries Lounge. It turned out that there were two "Galleries Lounges" in Terminal 5, and I visited the one closest to me after passing through security. I'm guessing they are pretty similar when it comes to food, drinks and seating options, but the one I visited had excellent runway views, so I'm happy with my choice. There was also a British Airways First Class Lounge, which I (naturally) didn't visit.

I was a little worried when I saw the "20 minutes" sign, and thought that visiting time in the lounge was restricted - luckily, I could spend several hours in the lounge, the 20 minutes referred to when one should be at the departure gate ;)

Huge restrooms

Toiletries

After visiting the restroom (they also had shower rooms, but that was hardly needed after a short two hour flight...), I went to grab some food. It wasn't exactly an impressive smorgasbord, but I grabbed a bacon sandwich and some kind of spinach frittata/omelet, and cranberry juice to drink. There might have been few choices, but it was actually really tasty! I ate my "second breakfast" while looking at the aircraft departing from runway 27R, and when I had finished my sandwich and frittata, I grabbed a bag of potato crisps and a Schweppes bitter lemon.

Really tasty second breakfast!

Enjoying the view!

The A380 is one of my favourite aircraft

Snack and liquor counter (there were a couple of these in the lounge)

Crisps and a Schweppes for me...

Then I walked around the lounge for a while. This was a huge lounge, but also an extremely crowded one. I was lucky to have gotten a seat by the huge windows to the runway. After an hour or so, they had replaced the sandwiches, as it was now getting time for lunch. I had some curried rice and salad, and went to find another spot to sit in.

Curried rice and salad - also tasty!

The view from my new spot - this was a huge but crowded lounge

Coffee and tea counter

Newspaper stands

After having lunch, it was time to go to the gate (which took a while - LHR is gigantic!). The lounge was a little too crowded for my liking, but the food was excellent, and I would still rate the lounge pretty high, compared to the other lounges I've visited this year.
