Trollhättan (THN) to Stockholm Bromma (BMA)

Date: 2018-06-29
Flight number: BRA TF811
Aircraft: Fokker 50
Registration: SE-LEB
Age of aircraft: 30 years
Duration of flight: 1:00 (gate to gate)
Seat: 10E (economy class)

There is no seat map for the F50 on Seatguru.com

Since I had around three hours before my return flight to Stockholm, and no intention (nor enough time) to head to the city of Trollhättan, I had plenty of time to check out the airport and its immediate surroundings. Not that it took more than two seconds to check the airport out, but anyway...

It was a lovely summer's day, and I had brought a book, so these hours passed quickly enough.

The tiny airport outside Trollhättan

Not much to see outside of the airport either, but it was a lovely weather this evening!

This is the departures hall...

They had a tiny check in area, a café and a couple of restrooms. But I guess not much more is needed, since there were only four departures the whole day. Since I had planned to have dinner at the airport, I headed to the café, where I had a grilled panini with salad for €7. Not bad! The café stayed open until the last flight for the day (mine) had departed.

Grilled panini and salad

The check in area - since I had already checked in online, I didn't need to stand in line here. Luckily. This queue seems horrible ;)

Security and boarding was quick, since there were no other flights departing, and there were only 15 pax on this flight. Three of them were kids (unaccompanied), and they boarded first. Then the rest of us got to walk out on the tarmac. Just like on the previous flight, there was free seating (it always is on BRA), but we were asked to avoid the first four rows as the flight was so empty. I chose to sit a little further back this time, in seat 10E. I specifically chose the right hand side again, as I was hoping for a descent into BMA from the southeast. When that runway is used (as it had been throughout the day), the passengers on the right hand side get a pretty good view of downtown Stockholm just before reaching the airport.

We meet again, SE-LEB! (I could think of a number of bad puns about how I'm a paparazzi taking SE-LEB photos, but I'll try to resist the urge...)

10E - mine for this short flight back to Stockholm
Getting seated in 10E. The text says "The airline closer to you" - not sure what they mean by that...

We pushed back ten minutes ahead of schedule, and took off from runway 33. Soon enough, the fasten seat belt sign was switched off. Since this was not only the same type of aircraft, but the exact same plane, I was wondering how to manage to make this trip report slightly different from the last one. I mean, it's not like you need another seat pitch picture. But if you've been reading this blog for some time, you know what I do to make otherwise similar trip reports different...

TADA! Just trying to make this trip report a little different from the previous one...

The lavatory was tiny, although the door opened out. It felt older and more dated than the rest of the cabin. Maybe because it is probably seldom used on such short hops that they didn't bother to freshen it up along with the rest of the cabin. To my surprise, the tap was turned off. I've never seen that before. Instead of using running water, one had to use wet wipes.

The snack options were the same as on the previous flight, but as it was getting late, I opted for water instead of coffee. The punsch-roll was delicious again. It felt like the service started sooner on this flight, but maybe that was just because there were fewer passengers this time, and it therefore was a lot faster.

"No thank you. I don't want coffee, it keeps me up. Too late for me to drink coffee." I said this to her.

Enjoying my punsch-roll and water with this view - I love flying!

Just as I had hoped, we made a turn over southern Stockholm to get in line for a touchdown at runway 30. This meant that I would get the views of downtown Stockholm that I had hoped for.

Touchdown!

Walking through the cabin to deplane

This had been a nice trip, and I was happy to have tried the Fokker 50. Now they can retire them completely if they want to. Pretty soon, I'll post trip reports from two other small aircraft on the verge of getting extinct. But before that, my wife and I have a whale jet to catch! You don't want to miss that trip report!

Hello there, Sukhoi Superjet 100! I'll get to fly this Russian aircraft in November!

Quite a nice evening here in Stockholm

Thanks for this flight, SE-LEB!
