When my wife and I have planned our vacations, one destination that we have talked about quite a lot, but never travelled to, is Mauritius. Well, it was time to stop talking about it, and go there! As we learned that the Philippines usually have horrible weather in July, Mauritius was left as the top candidate for our summer vacation. When it's summer in Europe, it's actually winter in Mauritius, but as we live in Sweden, average temperatures of roughly 25℃ sounded perfect.

There are a couple of ways to travel to Mauritius from Europe, as there are nonstop flights from cities such as Paris, London and Cologne. It would have been an exciting itinerary to fly with Air Mauritius from Paris CDG, but as it turned out, it was €200 cheaper to fly Emirates via Dubai, so that is the option that we chose. Now, I've flown the Stockholm-Dubai route four times already (and Emirates six times), so Air Mauritius might have been a little more exciting, but, flying with Emirates meant that we would get to fly the Whale Jet, the Airbus A380, between Dubai and Mauritius. That's an aircraft that we'd never flown before, and it's also an aircraft that doesn't serve Stockholm. So even if the price would have been the same, I'd say it's quite likely that we'd have chosen to fly Emirates anyway.

The itinerary of this trip:
2018-07-04: EK158, Boeing 777 economy class, Stockholm to Dubai
2018-07-05: EK701, Airbus A380 economy class, Dubai to Mauritius
2018-07-15: EK704, Airbus A380 economy class, Mauritius to Dubai
2018-07-16: EK157, Boeing 777 economy class, Dubai to Stockholm

We booked the trip during the spring, a few months before our summer vacation began. Summer finally came, and after having a couple of weeks at home (and catching a flight on the Flying Dutchman), it was time to head to Africa. My wife had previously been to Egypt, but for me it would be the first time in Africa. It's always exciting to travel someplace new. So without further ado, let's catch that familiar B777-300ER ride down to DXB and get this party started!
