Location of Pacific Business Hotel in Taipei

When I arrived at Taipei Main Station with the airport train, there were still a couple of hours of daylight left, so I decided to do some sightseeing first (more photos of Taipei coming in the next post), before heading to the Xinyi district were my hotel was located. I took the MRT to "Xinyi Anhe", and walked for a few minutes until I reached the hotel.

This is what the hotel looks like from the outside - it's a little tricky to find the entrance though

It was a little tricky to find the entrance though, as "Pacific Business Centre" seems to be a conference venue of some sort, and the hotel is only located in a certain part of the building. To make matters even more complicated, the lobby is not on the ground floor, but on one of the floors higher up... Soon enough, I had checked in though, and had my key to room 2003, on the top floor of this hotel!

Dark corridors, but at least the room numbers are illuminated - this looks like my room...

Yes indeed - room 2003!

This was the view upon entering the room

To the right, there was a bathroom sink - but where was the bathroom...? Kind of a strange layout, but the toilet was behind the frosted door to the right, and the shower behind the door with the towel on. No locks on either door.

I prefer liquid soap, but this smelled nicely

Tiny towels (but they had bigger ones as well)

On the opposite side of the sink, there was a fridge (not a mini-bar) and a kettle

The rest of the room consisted of the bed, a sofa and a working desk. It was definitely a spacious room, but the main attraction was the balcony. I think most (all?) rooms at Pacific Business Hotel had balconies, which was one of the reasons I booked it. I wanted to be able to take some photos of the cityscape from the hotel room, and was hoping for a room with a view of Taipei 101.

Going to check out the view

Wow - look at that!

The views were spectacular, and since I didn't have the energy to head to Xiangshan ("Elephant Mountain") to watch the sunset, I could watch the sunset from the balcony instead. When the sun had set, I could take some long exposure photos as well, as the parapet was wide enough for my tripod. Perfect! I would definitely recommend this hotel based on my experience. It was clean and fresh, the people were friendly, and the views (at least from my room) were great. The only con that I can think of, was the strange bathroom layout and poor water pressure in both tap and shower. Oh, and that the lobby was a little hard to find.

Sunset selfie!

Thanks to the great zoom on my Nikon P900, I could actually do some plane spotting of the planes coming in to land at Songshan Airport (TSA), the airport closer to the city centre
