THAI don't have a lounge of their own at Heathrow, but business and first class passengers get access to three of their Star Alliance parters' lounges; United Airlines, Air Canada and Singapore Airlines. I had originally planned to visit United's lounge, but the check-in agent of THAI recommended a visit to Singapore Airlines's lounge instead, as he thought that it was the best out of the three. And I guess it made sense - I have at least flown on United before, but never had anything to do with Singapore Airlines, so it was nice to get acquainted with them, albeit only at their lounge.

I therefore headed to SilverKris lounge (SilverKris is the name of Singapore Airlines's loyalty programme), and was basically blown away after having visited the modest SAS lounge at Arlanda on the same morning.

Nice and spacious

Food was delicious, and there were plenty of food and drinks to choose from, including a mango and coconut Bircher muesli that was absolutely sensational. After having grabbed said muesli and a strawberry smoothie (also delicious), a waitress came up to my table and showed me a menu. What?! They take orders at the table and bring food to you as well? This was a far cry from the SAS lounge indeed...

Plenty of space in here

Since the muesli and the smoothie were so tasty, I figured I'd give the menu a look at least, despite wanting to save some space for the dining on board the A380 that was just around the corner. I ordered a tiny portion of mee goreng which showed up a few minutes later, and it was just as delicious. Well done, Singapore Airlines! Unlike the SAS lounge, this is actually a reason to come to the airport well ahead of scheduled time of departure.

There was no SQ flight departing at the moment, so the lounge was almost empty when I visited

The were lots of seating options, and the restrooms were kept spotless. I'd definitely want to visit this lounge again, and it made me more interested in trying out Singapore Airlines too. But then they're the best airline in the world, according to this year's Skytrax awards...
